Windows Vista kills my inner child

I haven’t been following news of Microsoft’s next operating system too closely, but I came across this article on a Linux forum a couple days ago:

Windows Vista product editions revealed

My first thought was, “WTF?!”

Okay, I lied. “WTF?!” was my only thought. Most Windows users probably aren’t even aware that there are any other versions besides the one that they use. That’s mostly because they don’t care. It if lets them e-mail Aunt Sally and browse their favourite porn sites (just kidding), that’s all that really matters. But here, Microsoft introduces no less than SEVEN different versions, of which four are viable for the home desktop market. They’ve already done this to a lesser extent with Xbox 360. I can only wonder what they smoke over in Microsoft’s marketing department. When I think of a product with a zillion different editions that are sometimes only minutely different, I think of…

I’ll give you a hint. It starts with ‘L’.
